What Is a Knowledge Management Project?

The term “knowledge management” is increasingly finding its way into the management lexicon as concepts such as knowledge-based competition, knowledgeintensive businesses and products, and knowledge assets creep into strategy discussions. There is growing consensus about the importance of knowledge as a basis of competition and operational effectiveness, but surprisingly little research has been done to understand what firms are actually doing to identify, capture, and leverage their organization’s knowledge.
